Training Classes

Heart To Beat LLC offers a wide range of lifesaving classes resulting in certification from the American Heart Association, American Safety and Health Institute, the American Red Cross and much more. These courses range from aquatic certifications, including American Red Cross Lifeguarding to American Heart Association BLS Provider to Active Shooter training. Depending on the course, successful participants are issued an American Heart Association, American Safety and Health Institute or American Red Cross certification card, specific to the program completed and the participant’s need. Most Certifications are valid for a two year period.

Heart To Beat LLC has a full complement of state of the art training equipment to offer the most realistic training possible. We utilize manikins with built in CPR compression monitors, thereby providing each participant with constant feedback on the effectiveness of their compressions. Choking simulation vests, epi-pen trainers and bleeding simulation devices are all used to provide realistic, lifesaving training. Heart To Beat LLC also has a full line of spinal immobilization equipment and water rescue equipment to train anyone in the aquatic industry with the equipment likely to be used at their facilities.

Heartsaver CPR/AED & First Aid

American Heart Association Certification

Upon successful completion, each participant will be able to:

  • Recognize a life-threatening emergency and provide care until more advanced medical personnel arrive. This includes CPR with the use of an AED and First Aid.
  • This course is ideal for those who do not work in the healthcare field but need a basic understanding of these lifesaving skills. Daycare workers, teachers, industrial workers and community members are ideal candidates for this course.

Bloodborne Pathogens

American Safety and Health Institute

Upon successful completion, each participant will be able to:

  • Recognize hazards and avoid exposure to infectious materials and blood.
  • Identify how to respond should an exposure occur.

The Bloodborne Pathogens Training is designed for individuals who are trained in CPR/AED/First Aid and those who are at increased risk for exposure due to their line of work.

Basic Life Support (BLS Provider) - Recertification

American Heart Association Certification

Upon successful completion, each participant will be able to:

  • Perform a thorough assessment to identify life threats.
  • Provide high quality CPR while utilizing an AED.
  • Provide care to a choking victim.
  • Explain the importance of the Chain of Survival.
  • This course is ideal for healthcare workers. Doctors, nurses, medical techs and fire department personnel are typically required to hold this higher level of CPR. Please note this is a recertification course and is designed to serve as a recertification for those who have cards close to expiration.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Renewal

American Heart Association Certification

ACLS is designed for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiovascular emergencies. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units. The new 2015 ACLS algorithm has been simplified and streamlined to emphasize the importance of high-quality CPR (including compressions of adequate rate and depth, allowing complete chest recoil after each compression, minimizing interruptions in chest compressions and avoiding excessive ventilation) and the fact that ACLS actions should be organized around uninterrupted periods of CPR.

OSHA 10 for Construction Industry

Participants will learn to identify, avoid and prevent safety and health hazards in the workplace. This course focuses on federal OSHA construction Industry Standards. Successful completion results in certification in OSHA 10. Topics include but are not limited to:

  • Recognize what worker rights are protected under OSHA
  • Recognize what responsibilities an employer has under OSHA
  • Identify major fall hazards
  • Identify common caught-in or -between hazards
  • Identify common struck-by hazards
  • Identify types of electrocution hazards
  • Identify ways to select appropriate PPE and lifesaving equipment
  • Identify major health hazards common to the construction industry
  • Recognize how to protect oneself from material handling hazards
  • Identify major hand & power tool hazards
  • Recognize role of the workforce in improving the current culture
  • Recognize the role of management in improving the current culture

(10 Hours)

OSHA 30 for Construction Industry

Participants will learn to identify, avoid and prevent safety and health hazards in the workplace. Participants are also taught to improve compliance communication, on the job training and much more! This course focuses on federal OSHA construction Industry Standards. Successful completion results in certification in OSHA 30. Topics include but are not limited to:

  • Identify major fall hazards
  • Identify common caught-in or -between hazards

This course is ideal for job foreman, job supervisors and management.

Crime Prevention Training

Upon successful completion, each participant will be able to:

  • Develop a safety plan, unique for each business that reduces the probability of being selected as a target.
  • Identify effective ways to secure attention and help when accosted.
  • Identify locations and situations that put safety at risk.
  • Identify the one location that participants should never go under any circumstance as well as actions to take to avoid that location.

The CPT program will equip participants with an understanding of how to plan in advance, how to efficiently solicit expedited assistance, how to protect oneself as well as others while awaiting and how to avoid falling victim to one’s own fear and emotions. These programs can be tailored to all audiences from high school students to corporate business offices to senior citizen groups.

Active Shooter Training

Upon successful completion, each participant will be able to:

  • Identify signs of potential violence in advance of a tragedy.
  • Identify and implement effective responses when an active shooter is in the vicinity.
  • Identify how to respond and coordinate when law enforcement arrives on the scene.
  • Practice simulation scenarios, including realistic training, involving active shooters in your location in order to minimize panic and confusion.

Lifeguarding

American Red Cross Certification

Upon successful completion, each participant will be able to:

  • Perform water rescues to active drowning victims, unconcious victims and victims with spinal injuries.
  • Perform primary and secondary assessments to identify both life threatening and non life-threatening conditions.
  • Perform CPR while using an AED.
  • This course is designed for those who wish to work as a certified lifeguard. This certification is commonly accepted by commercial pools.

(2 Full Day Sessions & Online Learning)

  • This course is designed for those who wish to work as a certified lifeguard. This certification is commonly accepted by commercial pools.

Please note: All recertifcation participants MUST hold a current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification (or one no more than 30 days expired) in order to participate in a renewal. Renewals recertify each participant for another two years.

Safety Training for Swim Coaches

American Red Cross Certification

Upon successful completion, each participant will be able to:

  • Establish a safe and maintain a safe swimming environment.
  • Respond to emergencies around the aquatic area.
  • This course is ideal for year round or summer swim team coaches who need to hold a basic certification in order to be an active coach.

CPR/AED & First Aid

American Red Cross Certification

Upon successful completion, each participant will be able to:

  • Perform an assessment to identify various life threatening and non-life threatening conditions.
  • Perform CPR while utilizing an AED.
  • This course is ideal for healthcare workers who are required to carry American Red Cross CPR/AED.

(1 Full Day Session)



First Aid

American Safety & Health Institute Certification

Upon successful completion, each participant will be able to:

  • Recognize a life-threatening emergency and provide care until more advanced medical personnel arrive. This includes the use of various First Aid skills.
  • Identify and provide care to victims experiencing both medical and trauma emergencies.
  • Utilize various life-saving equipment such as Epinephrine auto-injector, tourniquets and inhalers.
  • This course is ideal for those who do not work in the healthcare field but need a basic understanding of these lifesaving skills. Daycare workers, teachers, industrial workers and community members are ideal candidates for this course.

CPR/AED

American Safety & Health Institute Certification

Upon successful completion, each participant will be able to:

  • Recognize a life threatening emergency and provide care until more more advanced personnel arrive. This course includes CPR with use of an AED and assessment.
  • Understand the legal considerations of providing emergency care.
  • Understand the importance of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • This course is ideal for those who do not work in the healthcare field but need certification of basic CPR and AED use. This course is an alternative to other CPR classes above and successful completion results in a certification card from American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI).

(2-3 Hour Session)



Pool Operator Certification

This course offers instruction for the completion of the Maryland State, Anne Arundel County and Baltimore County Pool Operators License. Upon completion, students will receive a completion certificate which is required to be eligible for a State, Anne Arundel County or Baltimore County Pool and Spa Operator’s License. The course includes: the role of the operator, legal aspects of operating a pool/spa facility, water chemistry, sanitation, and safety, maintenance of plant equipment, spa operations and hot water chemistry. Participants must be at least 16 years of age. Certification is good for a three year period. Students must attend all classes in order to meet licensure requirements.

Pool Operator Recertification

This course is designed for swimming pool owners, operators, lifeguards and managers who need their pool and spa operations license renewed. Instruction will focus on updating the procedures for operating a swimming facility as required by both the State of Maryland and county agencies for operators of public swimming facilities. Topics include water testing, filtration, circulation, operation and maintenance of equipment, disinfections and safety. Proof of current or previous (within six months) certification is required as well as photo ID on the first day of the course.

Maryland Overdose Response Program

Upon successful completion, each participant will be able to:

  • Recognize an Opioid overdose.
  • Understand how to respond to an overdose.
  • Understand how to protect themselves while providing care.
  • This course is ideal for community members, individuals with family members at risk and law enforcement personnel. This course is offered to public groups or, is offered to families in the privacy of their own home.

Stop the Bleed - Bleeding Control Basic

American College of Surgeons

Upon successful completion, each participant will be able to:

  • Recognize the immediate response to bleeding.
  • Recognize life-threatening bleeding.
  • Appropriate ways to stop the bleeding.
  • The help given by an immediate responder can often make the difference between life and death, even before professional rescuers arrive.
